Jonathan Oldman

Executive Director

Jonathan has worked and volunteered in public healthcare and not-for-profit leadership roles for over 20 years in both Canada and the UK. His work has focused largely on developing community-based solutions to a variety of complex social issues, including mental illness, homelessness, and poverty. Before joining The Bloom Group in 2008, Jonathan was Executive Director of the Vancouver branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association.

Trudi Shymka

Director of Services

Trudi has worked with homeless women and children in the Downtown Eastside for over 20 years, expanding women-only shelters and developing low-barrier services that provide support and opportunity for women to build on their strengths toward a better life. Trudi is a member of the Downtown Eastside Coalition of Women Serving Agencies, Greater Vancouver Shelter Strategy, Shelter Net BC Board and Cedar Cottage Neighbourhood House Board.

Nick Phillips

Director of Services

With over 30 years as a community activist, advocate and clinical social worker Nick has practiced in HIV/AIDS care, medical/palliative social work, addictions treatment, violence in intimate relationships, trauma treatment and specialized work with gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people. A former senior program manager with Family Services of Greater Vancouver, and an Accreditation Surveyor with the Council on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, Nick joined The Bloom Group in 2008 to advance standards through organizational and leadership development.

Raúl Jaime

Director of Facilities

Raul is an experienced Real Estate professional with over 10 years of direct experience. He has been involved in numerous transactions and has excellent negotiation skills in acquisition and dispositions as well commercial leases and other partial interests in land. Raul has been directly involved in all the steps of development from site selection to development permit, rezoning, design, all the way to construction and sales. His experience also includes managing a complex portfolio of properties and ensuring optimum performance; managing budgets for capital projects and overseeing renovation projects in a wide variety of real estate assets across the province. Most recently, he lead the Facility Condition Assessment program which is the principal Capital Planning tool in the BC Provincial Government and its entire portfolio of properties.
