FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Vancouver, BC August 29, 2022
It is with a combination of gratitude and sadness that the Board of Directors of The Bloom Group announces the retirement of Liz Barnett as its Executive Director, effective December 31, 2022.
Liz has been the Executive Director of The Bloom Group Community Services Society since January 2019 and impressively guided the Society through the pandemic era, arguably the most challenging period that the Society experienced in its 60+ year history. She guided the organization and its staff through a very difficult time, coordinated closely with other organizations in the sector to maximize safe operations and adequate PPE for staff and clients, and built a strong leadership team to carry the Society into the future. The pandemic has been, and continues to be, a significant strain on many organizations in the not-for-profit sector.
Her positive attitude and empathetic care for both staff and clients have been the hallmark of her leadership at The Bloom Group, and the Board of Directors is very grateful to Liz for that. Her time at TBG caps a long and successful career in the social services sector.
We wish Liz every opportunity to enjoy her retirement, as she enters into the transition phase in preparing The Bloom Group for her departure. Thank you Liz for your service and commitment to the community and social services.
The Board of Directors has initiated a search for the new leader of The Bloom Group to carry on the work that Liz, her predecessors, and its founder May Gutteridge have established. The organization will continue to work on behalf of its clients, delivering quality service as it has throughout its 60+ year history.
