STATUS:                                           Temporary Full-Time, Monday to Wednesday, 6:30am – 2:30pm; Thursday to Friday, 2:30pm – 10:30pm

JOB SUMMARY:

As a member of a multidisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care to residents of Supportive Housing according to established policies and procedures including assessing total physical, emotional, spiritual and psychosocial needs; planning, documenting and implementing care plans; evaluating effectiveness of care plans and making recommendations for changes where necessary.

EDUCATION/PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Graduation from practicing school of nursing with 2 year’s nursing experience.
  • Current practicing registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Current occupational first aid and CPR certification.
  • Completion of Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Course required.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform nursing assessments and provide care for people with chronic mental health concerns.
  • Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate care, and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members in care planning to promote quality clinical practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to direct, delegate, and manage a team of professionals in a fast-paced environment.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and clinical support to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to ensure safe, high-quality care.
  • Ability to foster a working environment of collaboration, skill, collegiality, and enthusiasm.
  • Ability to take initiative and work with minimal amount of supervision.
  • Ability to work in a stressful and changing work environment.
  • Ability to organize work and set priorities.
  • Ability to operate related equipment and to maintain skill levels in areas such as pain-control and treatments, wound care and general management of chronic conditions.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to empathize and work with people who may have experienced abuse, poverty, grief and loss, oppression, violence, mental health challenges, and/or addictions issues, and/or those who may be living with HIV/AIDS or other life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.
