Dr. Kozak was the past Research Director of the Primary Care of the Elderly Research Group, Family Medicine, Providence Health Care; a professor in Population and Public Health at UBC; Director of the University of Ottawa’s Family Medicine Clinical Epidemiology Unit; Associate VP of Medical and Academic Affairs at SCO Health Services (Ottawa); Chair of the Centres of Disease Control and Prevention’s Antecedents and Consequences of Disability – International, and has held many other academic and professional positions at the regional, national and international levels. He has worked as an epidemiologist and clinical researcher in a wide variety of health care settings ranging from primary care to chronic and acute care, palliative care, and psychiatry. He has held over $42 million in grant funding and was recognized by the Canadian Association on Gerontology for significant contribution to the field of aging. His main areas of concern have been health care access and health outcomes among marginalized and at-risk populations.
